Spend an exciting evening during Sydney’s VIVID Festival learning from a working pro photographer as you capture the stunning light installations and iconic harbour-side landmarks of the VIVID Festival FROM THE UNIQUE VANTAGE POINT OF THE SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE SOUTH EAST PYLON – exclusively! 

This celebrated annual event offers a unique opportunity to capture the colours of the city light projections under the guidance of a professional photographer. The Festival features breathtaking immersive light projections on the iconic Sydney Opera House sails and Harbour Bridge along with an outdoor exhibition of interactive light sculptures.

As the city lights come on, and the city comes alive, you will learn creative techniques to help you create postcard quality images in this fun, inspirational and eye-opening experience.

These workshops and masterclasses are designed for those photographers who want to explore the beautiful lights using creative techniques involved in shooting after dark whilst utilising the spectacular light installations.

For beginners looking for a fun and exciting introduction to digital photography or enthusiasts looking to brush up on their technique. All you need is a Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera with full manual controls, a sturdy tripod and lots of memory space.

NOT SUITABLE FOR COMPACT CAMERAS WITHOUT FULL MANUAL CAPABILITY.

A TRIPOD IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE WORKSHOP OR MASTERCLASS – Please note – you will need to bring your own tripod.

PLEASE NOTE : You will be required to climb 200 steps and for those who wish, a short ladder to the Gun Deck.  An appropriate level of fitness is required. 

* Weather checks will be completed in the days leading up to each Workshop with the final check on the afternoon of the workshop itself.  In the case of rain, or other extreme weather conditions, the workshop may be postponed.  In this case, you will be contacted, and rescheduled to the next available, and convenient, date.

This night photography workshop is suitable for both beginners and amateurs using Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera with manual capability.

This workshop is not recommended for compact cameras without full manual mode.

You will need:

  • Your Camera(s)
  • A sturdy tripod (this is essential)
  • A selection of lenses if you have more than one and you would like to experiment with them
  • A torch (to be used to see your cameras control in the dark)
  • Lens Hood if you have one
  • Blank formatted memory Card(s)
  • Fully charged camera battery and spare if you have one
  • Your cameras manual(s) – for referencing those hard to find features
  • Dress casual & comfortable with sensible shoes & something warm as you will be outdoors for most of the experience.

Note: A tripod is ESSENTIAL for this workshop. A lens hood & wide angle lens are recommended. If you do not already have a lens hood or tripod – you should consider purchasing them at your earliest convenience as they are an essential part of any good photography kit.
