Our portrait photography course in Sydney runs on Saturdays throughout the year. It starts at 9:00 am and ends at 6:00 pm.

Master lighting techniques like natural or artificial. Learn camera settings, composition, and focusing skills. Find out how to work with models to create poses and capture each person’s unique essence. 

And to make your learning experience even more exciting, we’ll conduct a series of professional photo shoots at some of the most amazing locations in Sydney. In addition to a day filled with inspiration and learning, you’ll enjoy a delightful catered lunch and snacks. This workshop is not just informative but also social and fun. 

We provide the opportunity to shoot with different models, helping our students to feel at ease during a beauty and fashion photography shoot or any  portrait session you desire – even with a friend or loved one. As for lighting, we’ll emphasise working with natural and available light, with a small section on flash. 

By the end of our portrait photography classes, you’ll have the skills and confidence to capture picture-perfect portraits with any DSLR or Mirrorless camera and reach pro level in portrait photography.

Who is the premium portrait photography workshop for?

The Sydney Photographic Workshops premium portrait photography workshop is the highest quality class designed especially for photography enthusiasts who want to excel in creating stunning portrait imagery. How much does it cost for the portrait photography course?

Our portrait photography workshop costs $450 for 9 hours of tuition. Overall costs will cover the following: 

  • Tuition by internationally acclaimed AIPP Master Photographer, Daniel Linnet
  • Lighting & reflectors – where required
  • Location fees – where required
  • Studio equipment
  • Transport van – where required 
  • Catered lunch and snacks throughout the day etc. 

How long is the portrait photography workshop?

Our portrait photography training course runs on various Saturdays throughout the year from 9:00am – 6:00pm. Contact one of our helpful team members if you have any questions related to upcoming classes.

What can I expect to learn from the workshop?

Our fun and exclusive portrait photography class will fuel your inspiration and uncover the technical skills and creative secrets to shoot powerful portraiture imagery. Running various Saturday’s throughout the year, the workshop provides hands-on experience for you to work with professional and friendly models. 

During our course, you will learn how to fine-tune the intricacies of capturing the best kind of image for personal shoots, the fashion and beauty industry, gain additional tips on compositional ideas and posing, understanding the fundamentals of working with natural light, as well as constructing a series of ‘pro-shoots’ in varying locations around Sydney. By the end of this exciting workshop, you should develop the skills and unending confidence for picture-perfect portraiture work. 

What camera do I need for the portrait workshop?

To enrol in our portrait photography workshop, you will need to bring the following DSLR or mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. Your camera must have full manual capability. We also strongly recommend our students bring plenty of films at different ISO ratings if shooting film or memory cards if shooting digital. Students should consider taking all their camera accessories , including tripod, lens filters, lens hood, and fully charged batteries with spares at hand. 

Please Note: This is a premium workshop and requires previous photographic experience.

You will need to know your way around your camera or have completed a basic or beginners photography course.

Not suitable for compact cameras without full manual mode.

You will need:

  • An SLR or Mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses with full manual capability
  • All lenses you have
  • Plenty of varied films at different ISO ratings if shooting film
  • Memory card(s) if shooting digital
  • All camera accessories – i.e: tripod, lens filters, lens hood, etc. if you have them
  • Fully charged camera battery and spare if you have one
  • Your cameras manual(s) – for referencing those hard to find features
  • Dress casual & comfortable with sensible shoes (you may get a little dirty at some locations)

  2. Wonderful day spent learning from Daniel the intricacies of Portrait photography. The day was made all the better it was practical and with able assistance of Wendy everyone in the group had ample time to practice.
    The locations and models ensured there was a variety of situations to practice in.
    By the end of the day, I definitely felt better prepared to take portraits and be prepared to look at aspects differently
