Absolutely loved my 8 week DSLR beginners course with SPW. Each week we focused on something different and were shooting in manual by week 3! The field trip was a highlight and it really helped me put all our theory into practise. Wendy was also fantastic to liaise with and was quick to answer any of my questions! Would recommend this course to anyone who is new to photography or who wants to learn more about shooting in manual!

My first encounter was with Wendy over the phone while I was searching for a photography course. It was her care and genuine advice that lead me to secure my booking with Sydney photographic workshops. She was wonderful to deal with, as I was unsure which workshop would be best for me. She was 100% right with her recommendation. I did the 8 week beginners course, as a self taught photographer I was concerned i might know a lot of the content. Let’s just say I didn’t realise how much I DIDNT know. Daniel was my teacher, he is an outstanding photographer so learning from him has been a game changer for my photography. Glad I chose to learn with these guys. Thankyou again to Wendy and Daniel

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the beginners course. The sessions were really informative and not overwhelming, and the practicals were exactly what we needed to bring it all together.
The teachers were really friendly and engaging. The final night presentation was a great opportunity to get some direct feedback and tips on what we can do to improve/change our shots.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get into photography.

An amazing course with super friendly team. I started the beginners course knowing little about photography and cameras, finished the course feeling very confident and comfortable, shooting in any condition and mode. Gaining a far better understanding of how to operate the camera and its possibilities. Definitely recommend to anyone thinking about doing a course a SPW. Looking forward to completing the other workshops they offer.

I took the 8 week beginners course and it was such good value for money. I tend to learn better in face to face situations and was fortunate to be in Daniels group. He is a top professional who teaches with such good detail and passion. It was brilliant, really enjoyable 8 weeks. Highly recommended!!

I have just completed the 6 week beginner course.
I have been taking images for years without understanding the theory of taking photos.
Daniel started at the basics and built on this each week. We practiced the theory we had learnt each week and left each lesson with homework.
Fantastic course, I would recommend this course to everyone.
Remember, the more effort you put in, the more your images improve.

I recently completed an eight-week PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE FOR BEGINNERS with Sydney Photographic Workshops. I strongly believed that this course was best suitable for people like me, who had enthusiasm to take good photos but with little knowledge on photographing. I felt much confident in terms of exposure and composition when taking a photo after the course. The tutor, Glenn, was extremely knowledgeable and addressed all questions we had during the course. Thanks, Glen, Wendy, and SPW!

The concepts are presented in an easy to understand manner and fully backed up and reinforced by the practical exercises and assignments. Daniel was always approachable and patient explaining the concepts where and when required. Would highly recommend this course to anyone considering it – you won’t be disappointed!

We booked this for our 15 year old son who was looking to explore photography. He absoultely loved it. Pretty advanced material was being taught but the way it was presented meant that he understood it, no problems. The very professional, very exerienced team made for a really wonderful experience. Highly reccommend.

It might be too long for some of you but since you have invested the time to look for reviews, you might as well spend few extra minutes reading one which is more than “I had a great time, money well spent, highly recommend ” We have all been there: Google search, YouTube tutorials etc. And it is fine to get basic knowledge, basic information on the internet. Mind you, even with that you have to be prepared to spend time rejecting 90% of the content provided by kids talking about gear (btw; if you are a kid interested in gear, this course is not for you). Then one day you have enough and you type in Google: photographic workshops. If you are lucky like myself and thousands before me, you will come across Daniel and his workshop. I can not tell you enough good things about this 8 weeks long workshop. To start with; its format. The fact that it lasts 2 hours at the time is fantastic because it keeps you interested without your brain being saturated with new and often foreign information. And if you are older: like myself; remembering too much is always an issue. Then there is question of information and knowledge you are being provided with. Daniel is a fountain of knowledge. You probably looked up his credentials so I won’t go into that. But face to face, Daniel is a fantastic tutor with vast knowledge, great personality and positive demeanour. We know from our academic years that some teachers could not pass their knowledge to students. This is not the case with Daniel. His approach to providing us with information was easy to understand yet extremely informative. Easy to remember “pearls of wisdom” made some of more complicated aspects of photography a breeze. Every now and then you were hit with this ball of lightning “aaaa, so this is why….” Your own “decisive moment”. And if you still had problems with understanding; Daniel was too happy to answer any questions and explain patiently until the issue was no longer an issue. I can’t say if I’m a better photographer now but what I know is that Daniel has equipped me with the knowledge to become one. Now it is all up to me to remember and practice what I was taught. And it is easy to remember: even for me: because of the way information were presented during the course. Thank you, Daniel: you have gave me so much useful information and your constructive critique of some of my photos made me improve the way I take pictures now. Thank you, Wendy, for being the perfect organiser who ensured that everything was running like clockwork.
