Well run course with enough information to make immediate improvements and increase understanding – without trying to cover everything. The basics were explained in a clear way and the small group size allowed for personal attention and time to take photos.

Fergus absolutely loved it, even being the youngest by decades. It was more technical than I’d expected, which was actually perfect, as it’s now given him a really strong foundation to work from … and he’s been off each day since, practising.

I’m sure we’ll be back for the next level in due course but in the meantime, it was a very valuable course for him. And Glen was fantastic – very engaging.

I attended a course on Saturday 11th December 2021. There were 10 of us ranging in age from teenager to senior. I would have been the eldest at 74. We started at Customs House Circular Quay then walked to the lift up to Cahill Expressway then through the Rocks finishing at Observatory Hill. Lucky the sun was shining you couldn’t do this course if it was raining because it is all outdoors. Our instructor Glen was superb, a very patient man with heaps of experience as a Professional Photographer. He had to know all the different cameras and was able to help everyone individually as well as group learning. I will now try to avoid always using the Auto setting on my Camera or using my iPhone. It will mean lots of practice to get full value from what Glen has taught us.

A great workshop all around. The teacher/guide photographer was brilliant in his depth of knowledge, and thorough steps were laid out one by one for the entire group to understand.

Glenn is professional photographer with the rare ability of conveying his vast experience in photography in a simple but, make -sense fashion. He started the workshop with the definition of photography, the exposure triangle. Explained each one of the three parameters, with the chance of each one of us to try different settings and asking questions. Glenn was so patient and tolerant and he was genuinely keen on answering and explaining why and how. And the four hour workshop ( he was generous enough to spend longer than 4 hours) ended with explaining and trying our hands with the “manual mode” and the Gray card. Enjoyed every minute of the four hours and learnt a lot . Would keep an eye on any more Of Glenn’s workshops with the Sydney Photographic Workshops .

Receiving this type of inductance within a supportive environment under Sydney Photographic Workshops has given me the confidence to continue to pursue the art of photography. Such an excellent workshop! The workshop took me on a journey from a beginner intimidated by the buttons and settings on my camera (beyond the “auto” setting), to a keen photographer with an (high level!) understanding of what the settings means and how to use them – all in a single afternoon!!! Glenn was an excellent (and patient!!) teacher – great explanations of the settings and photographic techniques – each with plenty of opportunity to test the effect of each setting on our photos – such a great learning method! This is no dusty, dull, cobwebby course in a room scribbling notes that won’t make sense in 20 minutes, but instead is an applied, hands on, learning experience (on your camera!) that gets the neurons firing and leaves you with a hunger to go and practice all the new techniques you’ve gained.

We had a great afternoon with Daniel learning about the functionality of our camera and both the theory and hands-on practice of ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and more. Everything was taught at a pace and style that made it easy to understand, despite being quite complex! Thanks Daniel! My husband enjoyed it so much that he’s now signed up for the full 8 week course.

I had an absolute blast yesterday on our Workshop. Glenn you have opened my eyes to a new way of seeing the picture before I take it. I couldn’t wait to work on what I learned and went out today to snap more manual shots with amazing results. I would highly recommend Glenn as a Tutor and Sydney Photographic Workshops to anyone wanting to explore the art of using your camera.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 hours with Glenn. There was a lot to take in and would like to have had the opportunity to recap a few things, but I understand that time was a limiting factor. Glenn was extremely knowledgeable and answered all questions precisely. I couldn’t wait to get home to try out what I had learned. Definitely worth the money and I would love to do something similar again. Thank you Glenn for your patience.

It was nice to have the individual things, that we have control over, explained so they could be easily understood. Then to practise those things so that the differences could be seen so easily was extremely good.
I came away understanding my camera a lot better, and what I can control. Now I think that I will be able to get better use of my camera and be able to enjoy it more.
    Thanks Glen

I learnt more in four hours with Glenn about how to use my camera and take photos than I did in an 8 week course I did a couple of years ago. Brilliant afternoon and I feel so much more confident to use the manual settings on my camera.

Received a gift voucher as a 30th bday present. A great course for anyone who wants to learn how to use their camera and venture around sydney learning how to take photos and understand the basic functions. Glen is a great teacher and very patient with going over things and very knowledgable. A must do course for any beginner, however one critism is that you are not provided notes or a handout of what you learnt which for me i think would be great as some learn better when they got something to follow and make notes on. Still a great course and a must for those wanting to learn the basics before reading about them

In the 4 hours spent with Glenn I learnt more than I thought I would and now understand how to use my camera in a totally different way. I think a lot of it will be trial and error going forward but I now have the confidence to try and use my camera manually and not always opt for the automatic settings. Thanks Glenn
