  1. I did a two hour session with Daniel yesterday as I wanted to understand the photography tools that my new Samsung S23 phone has and how and when to use them.
I’m not a photographer so this was a great session for me as the symbols and words didn’t mean a lot to me so to have them explained means I will be more likely to know what mode or setting I should use in the future when I take photos or videos for myself, to share or for posting on instagram.
I also now understand more about light and lines and what makes a good picture. Who knows I may progress to buying a camera, but for now this session has set me up to try new things rather than just point and press. Now I just need to practise so I don’t forget everything as we covered quite a lot in that two hours.
Lovely location close to the train station, easy to book (thank you Wendy) and Daniel’s coaching was excellent.

  2. Thanks Daniel for a most informative and enjoyable session for Bruce and Laila last Wednesday. Laila found the introduction to photography and the camera most inspiring, and Bruce appreciated some refresher points and also your references to older technology!

  3. I have been to the Sydney Photography Workshops several times. It started with a one-day course that showed me how much I could achieve with a very basic camera. It was an eye opener. So, when I booked an African safari and a friend lent me his expensive Nikon camera, I felt that I needed to learn how to use a real camera. So, I did the 8-week beginner’s course. Many of the photos I took on safari in 2004 are photos I am still proud of. I have been on long weekend trips, day trips, evening trips and attended in-house courses. It is always fun to spend time with like-minded photographic enthusiasts and instructors who are happy to share their knowledge. Not once have I been disappointed.
This time I had a private lesson with Daniel. Before Covid, a friend and I had a private lesson with Daniel, we enjoyed it and as always, I learned a lot.
However, this time I decided to spend the extra money and have Daniel spend a couple of hours just helping me with my burning and frustrating questions. Questions that Google could not answer. What was I doing wrong with these very specific issues, or how can I use certain gadgets better etc. I made a list of all the issues and we worked through them one by one. Not only were all my questions answered, but I learned so much more than just solving my specific problems. Daniel allowed me to record our session so I did not have to waste time taking notes and best of all, I will be able to listen to the lesson repeatedly. Hence, I do not have to worry about forgetting anything or trying to remember exactly what the advice was. Thank you, Daniel, you are a born teacher!

  4. Another superb private session with Daniel on Lightroom…this time I also involved my 12 yo son who really enjoyed an intro to Lightroom. Daniel is engaging, flexible in his approach and is an expert in what he does. Motivating session to learn and practice more and look forward to further future sessions ! Many thanks again Daniel !

  5. Great one on one session with Daniel getting acquainted with my recently purchased Canon R7. His readiness to share his extensive knowledge was extremely helpful and his relaxed and friendly approach made the 2 hours fly by. Having also completed a beginners course earlier, I am really looking forward to the Lightroom course next year. Highly recommend Sydney Photographic Workshops to anyone looking to increase their knowledge and confidence in photography by participating in any of their extensive courses – you won’t be disappointed!
