JOHN JANSON-MOORE

John Janson-Moore D.C.A. is an award-winning photographer, filmmaker and multi disciplinary audio-visual artist.  His photographic work is diverse, operating across documentary, portraiture and contemporary art. John’s documentary work centres on a wide range of social issues with a strong focus on the Aboriginal rights movements in Australia.  Over the past 25 years, he has worked closely with a number of Aboriginal communities around the country.  This longitudinal approach of engagement, consultation and storytelling is an integral part of his documentary practice. His artistic work is conceptual, transversing a precarious line between the real and imaginary.  It is suggestive, elusive and difficult to pinpoint, exploring peripheral and liminal moments and spaces. John’s work has been exhibited extensively and published both nationally and internationally.  His films have been broadcast on the ABC and SBS and exhibited at film festivals around the world. John holds a Doctorate in Creative Arts from the University of Technology Sydney.
