Feel like learning some exciting NEW tricks? Join us for a captivating Light Painting Photography Workshop atop the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge South East-Pylon. This unique workshop combines the stunning backdrop of Sydney’s skyline with the creative art of light painting. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, you’ll discover the magic of painting with light and create mesmerising images that capture the true essence of Sydney at night with that something little bit extra.
Under the guidance of our expert instructor, you’ll learn various light painting techniques, from basic to advanced, and experiment with different light sources such as LED wands, torches and Fibre Optic brushes. The workshop begins with a brief introduction to the principles of light painting and associated camera techniques.
After twilight descends and the city lights begin to sparkle, you’ll have the opportunity to capture long exposure photographs against the breathtaking views of the Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay, the Bridge itself, and the shimmering waters of Sydney Harbour below.
We’ll provide all the necessary light painting tools, you just bring your camera, lenses and a sturdy tripod. Our instructor will be on hand to offer personalised tips and guidance, ensuring you leave with a portfolio of stunning, one-of-a-kind images.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll have the chance to review and discuss your photos with fellow participants over light refreshments. This is a fantastic opportunity to exchange creative ideas and techniques, making connections with other photography enthusiasts.

- Meeting at the Pylon Lookout Entrance
Note: A reasonable level of fitness is required for this workshop. You will need to climb 200 steps to the top of the Pylon and, for those who wish, it is a short ladder climb to the Gun Deck at the absolute top!

WHAT TO BRING
You will need:
- Your Camera(s) with full manual capability
- A sturdy tripod (it is essential to bring your own as we do not loan tripods)
- A selection of lenses (if you have more than one)
- A torch (to be used in exercises)
- Lens Hood (if you have one)
- Blank formatted memory Card(s)
- Fully charged camera battery (and spare if you have one)
- Your cameras manual(s) (for referencing those hard to find features)
- Dress casual & comfortable with sensible shoes for climbing
A final weather check will be conducted with the Bureau of Meteorology on on the day of each workshop – or in the case of Sunrise Workshops – the night before. This may lead to the workshop being postponed in cases of unfavourable weather reports. Should we need to postpone you will be notified via text message to the mobile number supplied to us.
