ABOUT

CAPTURE THE MAGIC OF THE VIVID LIGHTS HIGH ABOVE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HARBOUR ON EARTH!

Step into the magic of VIVID Sydney with an exclusive Photography Experience on the Gun Deck at the South-East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge  – a rare vantage point 89 meters above sea level, normally off limits to the public! Brought to you by Sydney Photographic Workshops in partnership with BridgeClimb Sydney.

This celebrated annual event offers a unique opportunity to capture the colours of the city light projections under the guidance of a professional photographer. This experience features front row seats of the breathtaking immersive light projections on the iconic Sydney Opera House sails and Harbour Bridge along with an outdoor exhibition of interactive light sculptures and twinkling lights on the harbour’s water.

For beginners looking for a fun and exciting introduction to digital photography or enthusiasts looking to brush up on their technique. All you need is a Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera with full manual controls, a sturdy tripod and lots of memory space.

At the conclusion of the experience, kick back with a complimentary hot drink and light snacks while you review and chat about your shots with fellow photographers. It’s also a great opportunity to pick your tutors brain on all things photographic.

Spaces are limited, so book your spot today and see Sydney Harbour in a whole new light. Capture the magic of the night and create images that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. We can’t wait to see you there!

  • Suitable for all skill levels
  • Suitable for Digital SLR or Mirrorless cameras with manual capability
  • Meeting at the Pylon Lookout Entrance

🌃 New This Year – Try NiSi Filters!

We’re proud to have NiSi on board for 2025. At each Pylon workshop, you’ll get hands-on access to their powerful Natural Night Filter  — perfect for cutting through city glare and capturing crisp, vibrant colours in your night shots. You will also have the opportunity to try the incredible NEW JetMag Pro magnetic filter system with a variety of ND filters for accurate control over movement in your shots.

Note: A reasonable level of fitness is required for this experience. You will need to climb 200 steps to the top of the Pylon and, for those who wish, it is a short ladder climb to the Gun Deck at the absolute top!

Please be sure to check the start time in the dropdown menu when you book as they vary.

The Vivid Workshop on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge pylon was excellent. The staff were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. It was great to be able to try new equipment such as filters. The view was phenomenal and I was so happy with the photos I got with my own camera. I look forward to doing it again next year.

The location and team at SPW were excellent for Vivid and I will probably go again next year if it is offered

Great workshop didn't take as many photos as I would have liked and found that I didn't experiment as much as I wanted to because I was to busy learning from the tutors. Would definitely recommend

Daniel & the team at SPW took us up to top of the South East Pylon of Sydney Harbour Bridge to photograph the amazing Vivid Light Festival. The whole experience was first class, from obviously the location, through preparation, photographic advice and the quality of the support team. Well done guys! An amazing evening!

A big thank you to Daniel and the team for a great night of shooting Vivid from the Bridge Pylon. So many pro tips were given to obtain fantastic images using Nisi filters.

Your team and yourself were incredibly helpful as I consider myself as a beginner in the photography world. Have also had a love for photography so the night was very enjoyable. I’m keen to come back next year and see how much I’ve improved, hopefully with some company this time as filling in my friends about my experience they too seemed keen to come along.

Daniel Linnet and his associates were very helpful in setting up my camera as I could hardly see the controls. Blame it on the rain, darkness and my old eyes! The rain was a real dampner and I could not take the shots I wanted. Andrew from NISI loaned filters to try out.
Still it was a good experience and I may return to take some more shots.
