I joined the ‘On Assignment’ trip to Central Australia and had a fantastic time – not only did I meet some really interesting people who had great photography skills – but I got to have some real one on one assistance from Daniel, which I sorely needed!!! The locations were sensational, even the camping (and I’m not a camper) was fun! What was most satisfying however, were the quality of my photo’s after each location. I can’t thank the team at SPW more for an enjoyable, informative and entertaining 9 days – would and will, absolutely do it again!

As well as a superb photographer, Daniel is a gifted teacher. He has the capacity to bring out the best in individuals, inspire, empower and explain. All this coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and enormous patience!

I have attended several workshops and trips away with ‘Sydney Photographic Workshops’. I first joined the short Saturday afternoon workshop, as I had a small hybrid camera. The tutor was brilliant. I was surprised how much my little camera was able to do, and I learned its limitations and advantages in one single, fun afternoon. Having been exposed to all the possibilities a better camera would be able to do, I bought a midrange DSLR camera and attended the 8 weeks’ beginners workshop to learn how to drive my new camera. Once again, I could not fault the tutor. Every student received his attention and we all learned in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. To expand my knowledge further, I attended several more workshops, some were just for a half or a full day of fun and learning experiences. The highlight was the few days we spent at ‘Monte Christo Homestead’. Daniel and Wendy are excellent hosts. They make you feel like you are their personal friend. All the photographers I meet were as dedicated and enthusiastic as Wendy and Daniel. I found that my personal needs were always met, I learned a lot and their enthusiasms rubbed off on me.

I travelled to Adelong (near Tumut NSW) with Daniel and Wendy for a 3 day assignment which was action packed and a wonderful experience. We had 7 shoots covering many topics including the Adelong rodeo, fashion in the ruins of an abandoned goldmine and in a forest, a machinery shed, happy pigs, and wine and food. Daniel had even arranged for an old drover to gallop through a creek at sunset for us! Generous with his knowledge, Daniel ensures that everyone gets an opportunity to learn and participate regardless of their level of experience. Wendy’s planning and back up ensures that everything runs without a hitch. I would highly recommend their ‘On Assignment’ workshops to all keen photographers looking for something special.

I was first introduced to Sydney Photographic Workshops 2 years ago by a photographer friend. I was literally blown away when I saw Daniel Linnet’s work. When the “On Assignment” adventure was announced I jumped at the opportunity. Wow! What a truly amazing experience. The workshop was 5 star – wonderfully organised and so many unique photographic opportunities to capture amazing people and landscapes. Daniel’s tutoring was exceptional and inspiring. He truly is a master photographer and a real privilege to have had this time with him. This definitely took my photography to the next level. Thank you!

Daniel (and wendy) offer one of the best experiences I have encounted in the many workshops I have attended across the globe. His creative flare and willingness to share ideas for improving an image with a clear passion for people is one not to be missed. They are also impeccably organised (well done wendy). I recommend them whenever I get the chance. The images on his page speak for themselves. You can achieve the same……

I had the pleasure of accompanying Daniel and Wendy on the Monte Christo Homestead assignment in 2014. I have to say that this was a great weekend filled with photography and it enabled me to get to photograph in areas that I would not normally do.
Magdelena Soulos (a.k.a. Lady Medusa) was a brilliant model, she and the costuming that was used was superb and suited the venue.
I never realised that Lawrence Legend was the owner of the property and going over his props and the cars and buses he has used was a great addition.
No-one was haunted during the night, which was a surprise as the place is supposed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Australia.
Overall a great weekend, great people and I would highly recommend anyone who is a really keen photographer to attend one of these weekends.
One caution though, if you do not really know your equipment inside out or are not comfortable working by yourself with a model, I would say wait until you are, you’ll get a lot more out of the time spent with Daniel.

Last year I attended an “On Assignment” trip to Central Australia. It proved an extremely rewarding experience. Daniel had arranged for us to visit fascinating locations and provided unique access to the local indigenous people. On every occasion he provided valuable advice as to how to approach each shoot and was always ready to share his knowledge and experience.
